Recent makes of the month

Sorry this is late guys, theses are my recent makes of last month.

This dress is a little twist on a basic t-shirt dress, with vertical white stripes across with sheer front and back. I really enjoyed making this one, i just drew up a quick sketch and started sewing. The fabric is from the textiles shops in shepherds bush. I created the pattern by using the dimensions of an oversized tee. The only problem I faced was aligning the strips correctly for the front and back. I found it quite difficult to hem the bottom because I didn't align the lines properly causing it to look wonky. Other than that I am happy with the finished result.
What do you guys think?

This mesh crop top was just a quick make with basic front and back pieces and no hemmed edges. I am a lover of 90s fashion and was so inspired to make a crop top like this. Its just a cool way to add a bit of edginess to an outfit.

As you know from my recent post jewellery making is my new hobby. So I made two more hand chains to add to my collection. I really do enjoy making them, they just dress up any outfit and are great gifts to give by personalising it however way you like. I have posted one of handchains on Depop from two blog post ago. If your interested you can find me at Bira Belle.

As it is half term I thought it would be the perfect time to go down to Shepherds Bush. Shepherds Bush is ideal for thrifters and fashion students. It is quite widely know for its Westfield shopping centre but little do people know that Shepherds Bush was once know for its open air street market.
Traid is always the first place I hit whenever I'm in Shepherds Bush. I feel Traid is more of a thrift store than charity shop with loads of quirky vintage pieces, so don't be surprised by some of the price tags. If you have visited here before or planning to go in the future, there are plenty more stores just like this one around London such as Liverpool Street's Spitalfield Market and Brick Lane.

I tried a few things on like this fluffy long cardigan/coat which I was tempted to buy but couldn't justify the price. I think it was £39.99, it was nice but since it is secondhand I was expecting it to be a little cheaper. Also the fact that the inside moulted all over my top leaving white fluff everywhere put me off even more.

The second thing I was tempted to buy was this cute red tartan miniskirt from H&M for £6.99. Which isn't bad and I was so close to buying it but it was a little too short as it was size 6 which meant I couldn't pull it down over my hips. In the future, I want to make a skirt just like this.

In the market you can find anything from homewear to hats, clothing and fabrics.

I find the market is cheaper for buying fabrics but they have a limited range to choose from. The fabric shops would be ideal if your looking for a variety of textiles.

There is a wide range of textile fabric stores that can be found at the end of shepherds bush market. You have a chose of 10 shops to chose from all situated side by side along the high street.

Handmade hand chain

Sometimes I have these days where I'm just in the mood to be creative. I love making unique jewellery pieces, it's a new hobby of mine. Although I haven't been doing it for long, I think I'm getting better at it each time. I have just been using old jewellery which I don't wear anymore. For this one (see pictures above), I have just used an old necklace for the chain and a circular pendant medallion I found. I love to keep hold of any old jewellery that is broken and keep it until I'm inspired to use it in whatever way I like. I keep a little box that just has a load of different trinkets, plus bits and bobs I can find.

I love any kind of hand jewellery. I think its the perfect way to dress up or to add something different to an outfit. Something like this would be perfect for a wedding, music festival or worn with henna. Its has such a bohemian vibe to it with the rounded coin detail at the bottom of the bracelet. I'm really pleased with this piece and think anyone should give it a go. Although you do need a lot of patience and a good eye for detail (it is very fiddly as the links are quiet small). Other than that, it is a great way to create beautiful unique pieces that suite your style.

Happy Making :)

Purple hue

 Kimono - Newlook
Top - Miss Selfridge
Jeans - Levis
Sunglasses - topshop

As soon as I set my eyes on this kimono I fell in love. It has such a vintage feel and look to it with the smooth velvet purple hue finish. i love how the velvet has been burnt away to reveal the floral pattern below. My Levis are always my trusty companion with almost any outfit. They are best jeans I've brought by far there so comfy and fit perfectly. I decided to go down to brick lane and check out all the vintage shops, which is where I found them and not at a bad price either.

Work all day party all night

High Rise Monochrome jeans - Boohoo

Black Canvas shoes - Deichmann

Grey Cocoon cardigan -  Newlook

Yellow duster - Newlook

Bralet - Newlook

Heels - Newlook sale

When i brought these jeans i thought they would be a great piece to dress up or down.

The day look is great for uni or college, I love the cocoon cardigan I've been on the hunt for one for ages. I just love the cut and shape of the back and how effortlessly its falls on the body.
